Development of English Reading Comprehension Lesson Through Edmodo Application for Matthayom Suksa 4 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to develop and examine effectiveness of an English reading comprehension lesson, to investigate learning achievement, and to study the satisfaction of students toward English reading comprehension lesson through Edmodo application for Matthayom Suksa 4 students. The population of this research was 183 Matthayom Suksa 4 students of Muang Chaliang School, Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province in the first semester of 2019 academic year. The sample selected by cluster sampling method was 35 students in Matthayom Suksa 4/3 of Muang Chaliang School. The instruments used were an English reading comprehension lesson through Edmodo Application, an achievement test, a lesson plan, and a satisfaction survey. The precentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test were the parameters used for statistical analysis.

The results revealed that the English reading comprehension lesson through Edmodo Application for Matthayom Suksa 4 students contains 10 units with 20 hours of learning period including Hospitals can make you sick; Stop selling cute bunnies; Loves to ride a motorcycle; An exciting visit to Asia; Please marry me!; How do you celebrate New Year’s?; Fishing trip to Big Bear, CA.; She knows ways to a man’s heart; Love notes to his girlfriend; and Breakup and Heartbreak. The findings also showed that the effectiveness of the lesson plan is at 85.02/84.55 which is higher than 80/80 criteria. Moreover, the learning achievement of post-learning is statistically significantly higher than pre-learning at 0.05. In addition, the satisfaction of the students towards the English reading comprehension lesson through Edmodo Application is at the highest level.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาและหาประสิทธิภาพของบทเรียนการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ ผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียน และความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนที่มีต่อบทเรียนการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ โดยใช้ Edmodo Application สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ประชากร คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 โรงเรียนเมืองเชลียง อำเภอศรีสัชนาลัย จังหวัดสุโขทัย ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปีการศึกษา 2562 จำนวน 183 คน กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษา ปีที่ 4/3 โรงเรียนเมืองเชลียง อำเภอศรีสัชนาลัย จังหวัดสุโขทัย จำนวน 35 คน ซึ่งได้มาโดยวิธีสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ บทเรียนการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ โดยใช้ Edmodo Application แบบทดสอบวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนรู้ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ และแบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบที

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า บทเรียนการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจโดยใช้ Edmodo Application สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ประกอบด้วยบทเรียนจำนวน 10 บท ได้แก่ Hospitals can make you sick, Stop selling cute bunnies, Loves to ride a motorcycle, An exciting visit to Asia, Please marry me!, How do you celebrate New Year’s?, Fishing trip to Big Bear, CA, She knows ways to a man’s heart, Love notes to his girlfriend, Breakup and Heartbreak ใช้เวลาเรียน 20 ชั่วโมง มีประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับ 85.02/84.55 ซึ่งมีประสิทธิภาพสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ 80/80 ที่ตั้งไว้ นักเรียนมีผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนหลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 และนักเรียนมีความพึงพอใจต่อบทเรียนการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจโดยใช้ Edmodo Application อยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด
