Development of English Reading Lesson through Task-Based Approach and STAD Technique for Grade Eighth Students

Abstract

This research study aimed to develop and evaluate the efficiency of an English reading skills lesson, to compare the learning outcomes, and to study the student satisfaction towards the English reading lesson using task-based approach and STAD technique for grade eight students. The population used in this research was 90 grade eight students of Ban Khok Wittayakom School. The sample, selected through a cluster random sampling technique, was 32 students in Mathtudentayomsuksa 2/1. The research tools comprised a reading lesson, a reading achievement test, and a satisfaction questionnaires. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and T-test.

The results showed that the English reading lesson using task-based approach and STAD technique for grade eight students consisted of 5 sets of reading lesson plans including: "A World Language," " As Busy as a Bee," "What Are You Like?" "Graduation," and "Sepak Takraw." The lesson efficiency was 83.56/82.81 which was higher than the defined criteria. The post-lesson achievement was 82.8% which was higher than the determined threshold at 0.05 level of significance, and the student satisfaction towards the lesson was at the highest level.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อพัฒนาและหาประสิทธิภาพ เปรียบเทียบผลสัมฤทธิ์ และ ศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 ที่มีต่อแบบฝึกทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษด้วยกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบเน้นภาระงานเป็นฐานร่วมกับเทคนิค STAD ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 โรงเรียนบ้านโคกวิทยาคม จำนวน 90 คน และกลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2/1 จำนวน 32 คน ได้มาโดยวิธีการสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบฝึกทักษะ แบบทดสอบวัดผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการอ่าน และแบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบที

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า แบบฝึกทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษด้วยกระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบเน้นภาระงานเป็นฐานร่วมกับเทคนิค STAD สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 ประกอบด้วยแบบฝึกทักษะ 5 ชุด ได้แก่ 1. A World Language 2. As Busy as a Bee 3. What Are You Like? 4. Graduation 5. Sepak Takraw มีประสิทธิภาพ เท่ากับ 83.56/82.81 ซึ่งสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดไว้ ผลสัมฤทธิ์การอ่านภาษาอังกฤษโดยใช้แบบฝึกทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษหลังเรียน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 82.8 ซึ่งสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่ตั้งไว้ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 และนักเรียนมีความพึงพอใจอยุ่ในระดับมากที่สุด
